Smock Fansler – Pre-fab shop:  Fall protection is a necessity in a majority of construction operations.  For the construction realm, six feet is the minimum heights at which fall protection is required.  Whether physical barriers, such as guardrails are in place, or personal fall protection systems are utilized, some form of protection is required.  These systems must be maintained and inspected frequently.  However, all equipment in regard to personal fall protection must be inspected before each use.

A best practice that many contractors follow is monthly third party inspection of personal fall protection equipment. This inspection ensures there is no damage, holes, missing pieces, or other items that may render the equipment noncompliant.
