Flagged warning lines are a form of a fall protection system that serve as a visual reminder of the working area and help keep workers safe.

When performing operations on a roof or elevated surface, requirements for flagged warning lines should include:

  • Keeping a 6-foot distance from the edge if performing roofing tasks;

  • Keeping a 15-foot from the edge if performing non-roofing tasks;

  • Flagging the warning line not more than 6-foot intervals; and

  • Making sure each stanchion can resist a force of at least 16 lbs.
