Ian is a graduate of Indiana State University, earning a bachelor’s degree in Safety Management. He works currently as a Safety Consultant and Education Manager, specializing in construction safety, mechanical contractor safety, and manufacturing safety. Ian has extensive experience working with excavation safety, heavy civil, demolition, and managing injury and illness cases relative to both OSHA Recordkeeping as well as Workers’ Compensation Management.
Ian obtained his CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) in 2020 and holds a Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) designation, also recognized by the BCSP. He is an Authorized OSHA Outreach Training Instructor for Construction, and he also holds the OSHA 510 Construction Certification. Ian is a recurring guest speaker for multiple organizations, most recently discussing Workplace Violence for the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS) Safety Director’s Forum, as well as Trenching and Excavation Safety Policies and Procedures for the Insurance Loss Control Association’s (ILCA) 2022 Annual Conference and is a recurring speaker at the Indiana Health and Safety Conference.
Ian is an active member of the Central Indiana Chapter of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) and is involved with many task assignments surrounding the Coalition for Construction Safety (CCS), and often attends their Safety Director’s Forum events.
Ian is responsible for delivering company safety training presentations, developing and implementing company policies and procedures, managing worker’s compensation claims, and performing project audits, to name a few. Specializing in both construction safety as well as general industry, with an emphasis on high hazard industries (such as electrical, multi-employer worksites, heavy steel industries and heavy manufacturing and assembly operations), Ian provides a unique variety of expertise to his portfolio of clientele. Ian brings to the firm an interest in administrative safety, and between his typical day-to-day activities with clients, he is the go-to consultant who conducts GAP Analyses relative to both documentation safety as well as facility and physical safety and is tasked with detailed technical writing communicating gaps in overall safety programs and systems.
In his spare time, Ian enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending as much time outdoors as possible. He’s always willing to hit the golf course, and he recently purchased a fixer-upper, making him a Jack of all Trades. If you see him, you will most likely meet his favorite family member, his Black Mouth Cur, Rover.
