When using oxygen and acetylene tanks for welding operations, certain safety measures must be in place to prevent serious injury. 

The tanks pictured above, are stored in an upright position and secured to a cart via straps to prevent accidental tipping. 

Note the following:

  • Tanks should be separated by a 1-hour fire rated wall, which is an OSHA requirement for the short distance between the two tanks. 
  • When storing, if a wall is not present between the tanks, then the minimum distance that these tanks can be kept from each other is 20 ft.
